| Fife's setting between the Firth of Forth, which
separates it from Edinburgh and the Lothians and the Firth of Tay,
which separates it from Angus, has always given the region a sense
of something different. The reference to "Kingdom" reflects
its status long ago as an independent Pictish chiefdom. One of the
world's great golfing regions, the main towns include Dunfermline,
Glenrothes and St Andrews.
