Located just north of the Kingdom of Fife, south of Aberdeenshire and to the east of Perthshire, Angus is separated from Fife by a body of water known as the Firth of Tay. Famed for its stunning seascape between Arbroath and Montrose, the jewel in the golfing crown of Angus is Carnoustie Championship Links, while the main city of the region is of course, Dundee.

Barrie's Birthplace, Kirriemuir, Angus
The birthplace of J.M. Barrie, the creator Peter Pan, the adjacent house contains an exhibition about Barrie's literary and theatrical works entitled "The Genius of J.M. Barrie". The garden has been redeveloped to include a living-willow crocodile and Peter Pan statue. Phone: + 44 01575 572646  

Barry Mill, Barry, Carnoustie, Angus
Rebuilt in 1814 after a fire, the original machinery in this 19th-century mill has been restored and visitors can see it turning once more. Milling demonstrations normally take place on Sunday afternoons, while a range of displays highlight the important place the mill held in the community. Phone: + 44 1241 856761

Broughty Castle Museum, Esplanade, Broughty Ferry, Dundee
Set in a 15th Century coastal fort, this museum of local history and wildlife specialises in the history of whaling and includes armoury and an observation post. Visitors enjoy spectacular views of the Tay estuary. Phone: + 44 1382 436916  

Caledonian Railway Ltd., Brechin, Angus
This heritage steam railway runs four miles from a unique Victorian terminus station at Brechin to the remote Bridge of Dun. Visitors can take interesting walks from the station to the Montrose Basin Bird Sanctuary. Phone: + 44 1356 622992  

Discovery Point & RRS Discovery, Discovery Quay, Dundee
Follow in the footsteps of Captain Scott and Ernest Shackleton and experience one of the greatest stories ever told. In 1901 Captain Scott set sail and spent two long winters frozen into the Antarctic ice. Discovery returned home in 1904 to a hero's welcome and a place in maritime history. The exhibitions are a mix of audiovisual and multimedia, alongside displays of actual artefacts that belonged to Scott and the brave crew who sailed with him. Phone: + 44 1382 225891  

Edzell Castle & Gardens
Edzell Castle & Gardens, Edzell, By Brechin, Angus
Created by Sir David Lindsay in 1604, the walled garden at Edzell Castle is one of Scotland's unique sights. Featuring walls decorated with sculptured stone and flower boxes, "The Pleasance" is a delightful formal garden. Phone: + 44 1356 648631 
 
Glamis Castle, Glamis, By Forfar, Angus
Set in the heart of the Angus Glens, Glamis Castle provides a wonderful day out. Once the childhood home of the Queen Mother, the Castle is now home to the Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne. House of Dun, Montrose, Angus
This beautiful Georgian House, overlooking the Montrose Basin, was designed and built by William Adam in 1730 for David Erskine, Lord Dun. Comprising two walled gardens, the walls are still as shown on an estate map of 1780 and shelter a traditional fruit and flower garden leading to semi-formal gardens beyond.
