ACCOMMODATION REVIEW
Skibo CastleIf you want to pamper yourself in the Scottish Highlands, then look no further. "Heaven on earth" was how Andrew Carnegie described Skibo Castle, his glorious Highland castle and estate - and he was right! Set in its own 7,500-acre estate and home to the Carnegie Club, Skibo Castle is strikingly located in landscaped grounds and mature parkland, which sweep majestically down to the Dornoch Firth. The park around the Castle has an abundance of wildlife and activities on the estate include falconry, clay pigeon shooting, riding, canoeing and of course, golfing.

From the moment you enter the gates of Skibo Castle, you know you are somewhere special and that feeling continues throughout with individual service the norm wherever you go. It doesn't take long to understand just why Madonna and Guy Ritchie decided on Skibo as the venue for their wedding. So exclusive is Skibo Castle that guests of the Carnegie Club may only stay once in their lifetime, after which they must become members of the club in order to return. Though there are many great things about Skibo, one of its great benefits lies in the choice of accommodation. If the castle is not what you are after, then the private lodges are a great alternative.

The Carnegie Club recreates the Skibo from times past and residents are treated as houseguests of a great sporting estate from the Edwardian era, when service, luxury and style were very special. The estate is enchantingly beautiful beyond words and is the ideal base from both a golfing and sightseeing perspective. Boasting magnificent reception rooms, Skibo Castle offers a choice of accommodation, with an original marble pool, gymnasium facilities and on-site links golf course. Originally founded in 1898, the course was subsequently reconstructed and now provides a superb championship challenge. Original furniture and antiquities abound, providing an historical reminder of the Edwardian era. Rest assured that if you stay at Skibo Castle just once in your life; the occasion will forever remain a treasured memory!

ONLINE GOLF TRAVEL RATING
It's safe to say that no matter where you have stayed in the world, you will never have experienced such a place as this. Skibo Castle is far from inexpensive but some things in life justify the cost and a stay at Skibo is one of them.
