ACCOMMODATION REVIEW
Royal Golf HotelIt's difficult to imagine a more ideally located hotel for a golfer than the Royal Golf Hotel in Dornoch. Even in carrying your golf bag, you can stroll from the hotel entrance to the first tee of Royal Dornoch in less than a minute. A hotel since 1938, the Royal Golf Hotel is an excellent four-star facility and commands truly magnificent views of the course and coastline from the restaurant and from many of its guestrooms. Not just convenient in terms of golf, the hotel has the benefit of being located in the town of Dornoch and as such, is close to all Dornoch has to offer.

The Royal Golf Hotel has seen some major recent refurbishments with all the bedrooms, the front entrance, bar and Conservatory all being transformed. Mahogany chests and cherry wood are now common features throughout the hotel and though the bedrooms have been designed in similar fashion, individual touches ensure that no two rooms are alike. All rooms offer private bathrooms, incorporating both bath and shower, while each room has, as standard, a complimentary refreshment tray, satellite TV, trouser press and hairdryer.

As regards cuisine, the Royal Golf Hotel is renowned for keeping it simple but whether you opt to sit down to an informal lunch in the Conservatory, overlooking the golf course and Dornoch Firth; or choose to dine in the main restaurant, the story will always be the same. You will be sampling the best in terms of local game, seafood, Scottish beef and Dornoch lamb. The Tom Morris Bar is the ideal place to relax over a drink either before or after dinner. Offering panoramic views and genuine hospitality, its "Whisky Wall" boasts a staggering collection of over 100 distinctive malts.

ONLINE GOLF TRAVEL RATING
If you want complete luxury, then Skibo Castle is the place. But if you just want an honest to God hotel, with a good choice of cuisine, within seconds of one of the world's best links golf courses, then the Royal Golf Hotel will not disappoint.
