ACCOMMODATION REVIEW
Owned by the Duke and Duchess of Roxburghe, the Roxburghe Hotel has been converted into one of the finest country house hotels in Scotland and its on-site golf course is rated amongst the very best inland courses in the country. Set amidst 500 acres of mature woodland on the banks of the River Teviot, the Roxburghe has a relaxed, home-from-home atmosphere and boasts a well-earned reputation for really good Scottish food and outstanding service. Situated in southern Scotland, the hotel may not be particularly close to Scotland's more famous links courses but when coming from south of the border, the Roxburghe Hotel is the ideal venue.
The Roxburghe Hotel & Golf Course offers a total of 22 luxury guestrooms, each one oozing in charm and character with a distinctly welcoming atmosphere. With open log fires, daily newspapers and room service provided, all of the rooms are en-suite and cater for the guest's every need. There is a nice selection of rooms and guests can choose between standard rooms, converted stable rooms and elegant four-poster suites. The Roxburghe has also gained an excellent reputation for its cuisine and guests may enjoy an evening meal in the main restaurant, which features home grown produce where possible, or a light lunch in the Library Bar.
Occupying some 200 acres of magnificent terrain, one of the principal attractions for the golfer is the Roxburghe Championship Golf Course. Designed by Dave Thomas; mature woodland, dramatic water hazards, challenging bunkers and rolling greens are all defining characteristics of the course, which will test even the most accomplished golfer. The Roxburghe experience is not quite over with fine accommodation, great cuisine and superb golf however. Guests can enjoy a range of on-site activities, including clay target shooting, fishing, falconry, tennis and archery; or avail of treatments such as massage, facials and manicures in the health and beauty suite.
ONLINE GOLF TRAVEL RATING
Though not the most perfectly located hotel to act as a singular base for the duration of your trip, the Roxburghe is a fantastic resort and should not be overlooked. It is ideal when travelling south from Scotland or travelling north from England.
Situated just off the A698 route, less than five miles south of the town of Kelso and 50 miles southeast of Edinburgh.

The restaurant provides attentive and formal service in elegant surroundings. The cuisine is impressive, as is the wine list with some specially selected claret from the Duke's cellars.
