Situated in the picturesque village of Dirleton, a peaceful place with very little through traffic, the Open Arms is conveniently located in terms of golf courses, between North Berwick and Gullane. This is a small, family-owned traditional Scottish country hotel and the hands on management, friendly atmosphere and high standards of service are admirable.
There are only ten guestrooms at the Open Arms and this, in itself, makes for an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Every room is en-suite, some with bath and shower, and all have been recently tastefully redecorated and individually furnished in the classic style, featuring co-ordinated fabrics and wallpaper. The rooms are each well-equipped in terms of facilities and include TV, radio, hairdryer and tea / coffee making facilities.
The cuisine is particularly impressive at the Open Arms and in Deveau's Brasserie overlooking Dirleton Castle; guests can enjoy a wide selection of food in contemporary surroundings, with a relaxed atmosphere. Alternatively, you can enjoy a drink and canapés in the lounge before moving to the intimate, award-winning fine dining restaurant. The big thing at the Open Arms for golfers, however, is the fact that given its location, Dunbar, Muirfield, North Berwick, Kilspindie and the three courses at Gullane are all within 30 minutes drive.
