ACCOMMODATION REVIEW
Boath House HotelIdeal for golfers seeking a hideaway country haven, the Boath House Hotel was built around 1825 for the Dunbar family, replacing the original house, which had been on the site since the mid 16th century. Once described as "the most beautiful Regency House in Scotland", the Boath House was on Historic Scotland's endangered list in the early 1990's when Don & Wendy Matheson found it, fell in love with it and set about restoring the building to its original splendour. Today, the Boath House is set on 20 majestic acres of land, including a beautiful lake and traditional walled-garden and attracts guests from around the world.

Much has changed at the Boath House since those early halcyon days of the Dunbar family but though the kitchens have been relocated from the basement to the ground floor and are now equipped with 20th century appliances, what has not changed is the fine traditional cuisine served here. Renowned for its award-winning cuisine, the Boath House is one of the finest restaurants in Scotland. Freshly prepared local fare based on traditional foods and old recipes combine with new ideas from the Continent to give a balanced an interesting menu.

Location and cuisine are just two of the things that make the Boath House such a special place. The guestrooms also play their role and each of the six rooms has been painstakingly refurbished, and individually decorated to reflect the opulent lifestyle of the original occupants. All rooms are bedecked with antique furnishings and offer an undisturbed view of the grounds, while the only concession to modern times are the en suite facilities in every room. The Boath House also boasts a leisure area, small gymnasium and beauty salon, where guests can experience a range of Aveda Concept treatments, which by the way, involves an holistic approach to beauty and well being based on Indian medical principles and using natural plant and flower extract treatments.

ONLINE GOLF TRAVEL RATING
A relaxed, friendly and romantic venue, the Boath House is not the type of place that suits a large group of golfers (mostly due to its small size). If you are looking to combine total relaxation with some great golf though, the Boath House is perfect.
