ACCOMMODATION REVIEW
Hidden away amongst thirty acres of rolling parkland and commanding magnificent open views across the River Dee, Ardoe House is an exceptional country retreat and is situated only three miles from the vibrant centre of Aberdeen City. Inspired by the royal residence at Balmoral Castle about 40 miles upstream, Ardoe House dates back to 1878 and represents a brilliant marriage of Victorian opulence and contemporary elegance. And despite being a modern hotel in terms of facilities and service, intricately carved staircases, enormous fireplaces, traditional décor and rich wood panelling are very much the hallmarks of this hotel.
The hotel offers a wide range of guestrooms from standard rooms to luxurious four-poster suites and throwing open your window to capture the early morning light as it spills over the River Dee is one of the pure delights of a stay here. And though all the bedrooms are traditionally furnished and boast indulgent bathrooms and antique furnishings, the rooms are also equipped with the modern amenities one would expect from a four-star establishment. One of the major attractions of a stay here is dining at the AA rosette-winning restaurant. Guests can dine either here or in the relaxed surroundings of Laird's Bar, where you can later enjoy a drink or two.
A relatively recent addition to the facilities at Ardoe House is the Vital Health, Beauty & Fitness Club. Here, guests can enjoy a light workout or a swim and relax in the sauna or steam room, while a range of beauty and relaxation treatments are also available. Quite apart from being an excellent location for playing the likes of Royal Aberdeen, Murcar and Cruden Bay, Ardoe House is also ideal for enjoying all that the city of Aberdeen has to offer. Other attractions in the vicinity include Balmoral Castle, Royal Deeside, the Royal Lochnagar Distiller and Malt Whisky Trail and the Gordon Highlanders Museum.
ONLINE GOLF TRAVEL RATING
Ideal for the golfer, this is a good four-star hotel, though not the last word in terms of luxury. It's rare that you get to combine a country location with the benefits of being close to city life.
Situated on the B9077 route, off the main A90 route from Dundee, about three miles southwest of Aberdeen City Centre.

With its oak staircase, tapestry covered walls and stained glass windows, there's a sense of grandeur to this late Victorian mansion. Dishes are classic with the odd Scottish twist.
